We made it safe and sound to Wanaka and had a great first day of skiing. The conditions in the morning were great—clear skies and amazing views from the top of Treble Cone. By mid-afternoon, visibility was decreasing and it started to snow. We agreed to call it a day, head into town to stretch our legs, and grocery shop to make dinner while the other half of the group enjoyed the infamous Puzzling World (Google it!)
We’re looking forward to another fun day of skiing tomorrow. Here a few pics of the amazing view and the chair lift heading to the top of the mountain.
Also, it was C.C.´s 17th birthday today! We surprised her with a birthday banner, balloons, and fun accessories to make her day that much brighter. For dinner, some of the girls made her gluten free cookies, gluten free cupcakes, and pavlova, which is a recipe Grace learned from her homestay mother (and a popular dessert here in New Zealand). It was delicious and a grand feast of treats! Now it’s time to rest our bellies and heads. Til next time!
